A Little Bit of Sunshine

Yesterday, I saw a little bit of sunshine....
I wore a little bit of sunshine... (love my yellow tights!)
and I held a little bit of sunshine! (love my niece!)

A little bit of sunshine is always nice on a cloudy day.

Just a little glimpse into all this beautiful fall weather! I love shooting in the soft fall lighting!! I've actually been really busy with lots of photoshoots lately. I've been thinking I might have to start a separate photography blog. We shall see. We shall see. I'm off to another photoshoot this morning! Wishing it was about twenty degrees higher, but happy the sun is still shining!

Ten on 10/10

Yesterday I was snap-happy! I took so many fun fall photos for the ten on ten challenge. Last week it snowed (sigh) and I thought I wasn't going to get those harvest photos that I love so much... thank goodness the sun came back, even if it's just for a little while!!

Ten on Ten is a great way to SEE THE BEAUTY IN THE EVERYDAY!!

1. Husband's breakfast... so NOT gluten or dairy free
2. Just a few more tomatoes hanging in there
3. Through the fence...
4. Never a shortage of dishes to be done
5. Scrapbooking in my studio
6. Grape juice for Danny
7. Swinging is the BEST!
8. A different perspective
9. Sister-in-law's pumpkins for sale at the farm
10. Tomatoes to can can can...

Enjoy!

Goodbye Summer...

I'm not ready to let Summer go just yet...
I wish I could hold on to these sunny days a little longer.

Alas, change is in the air...
Goodbye Summer, see ya next year.

Vintage Country

I loved this 10 on 10 photo! The charming country scenery, the idea of people stopping by the roadside to purchase fresh produce, the feeling of fall in the air... such a lovely story it tells!  I decided this shot needed to be a bit more vintage though, to really stand out. I don't used purchased actions,  I prefer to edit photos on my own. I quite like how this one turned out! Soft and pretty! Kinda makes me want to have a picnic in a meadow... red gingham sheet and all;)

I LOVE harvest time down on Danny's family farm! It's so beautiful and the fresh veggies are unbelievably delicious! Now if I can keep my allergies from ruining the charm!

Moments and Memories

Just a little something pretty today! Funny how flowers are so often related to memories. I will always think of my grandma Dowdle when I see lilacs and peonies in full bloom. I remember her yard was always so lovely and fragrant...

Because of all the rain this year, the peonies didn't last too long, but they sure were beautiful for a few short days! I guess that's the beauty of capturing and documenting memories... The moments come and pass so quickly, but the memories can last forever.

Summer Days

I love Summer! I need sunshine in my life! I need flowers, birds, and butterflies. I need snow-cones and popsicles. I need morning walks in the park with Dolly and afternoon picnics under shady trees. I need warm evenings outside to enjoy the setting sun.

For so many years I've been stuck in the office missing out on all that sunny goodness. That's the great thing about photography... the world is my office! I'm learning and practicing and enjoying the beautiful moments along the way!

Just Daydreaming...

I wish I had owned a better camera when I went to Paris. While the local carnival ferris wheel and merry-go-round are quite charming, I must say I wouldn't mind returning to visit the ones in the heart of Paris. I also wouldn't mind visiting Paris in the Spring or Summer... Christmas in Paris was oh-so-charming, but also bitterly cold! Sadly, I really don't know what I could eat there anymore. Um... fish, fruit, and salad I guess. Good enough, but boy would I miss the bread and cheese!

So today I'll just daydream...

I'm spending the afternoon in Paris with Danny and Dolly today! (Dogs are allowed almost everywhere here!) I'm wearing a fashionable little summer dress and have all the energy in the world to roam the streets and see the sites! With camera in hand I pause to shoot every beautiful detail in sight. We stop at a little cafe and I order a Croque Monsieur (bread, cheese, eggs and all!) I feel wonderful! I sit and take it all in, just thinking how happy and lucky I am to be there. We have plenty of time to see the sites, visit the museums, and do a bit of shopping too. Ah... what a lovely day... (dream)!

Tis the Season

Tis the season of county fairs and carnivals, cotton candy and caramel apples. I say, bring it on! The next few months may just be full of images like these, there is just something so charming about it all! Now I just need to print these up and get to work in my scrapbooking studio!

Enjoy!

Okay, Just One More...

Okay, one more sneak peek of our Top Secret photoshoot. I can't resist.

As I was showing Danny these photos he looked at me and said, "Mauri's not a baby anymore, she's a little girl!" He's right. She is growing up too fast! Can we slow it down a little?! No? Than I guess I'll just keep snapping photos and catching the moments as they come.

By the way, I've been busy working in my little studio and I have some cute things to share soon!

Polka Dotted...

First things first. I have a complex about shirts like the one I wore in the photos above. I LOVE the look and want to wear them, but I always worry that I'm too short and they make me look pregnant. I'M NOT.

Well that was awkward.

Anyhow, a while ago I saw the most gorgeous photo of a quaint little home covered in polka dots. It just made me happy! Really, what could be cuter than that?! So, for Danny's 28th birthday I decided to cover our home in colorful polka dots, just for fun. Perhaps it wasn't the most masculine decor, but I think he liked it.

I think I would like to wake up one day and find that everything had turned to polka dots. Not permanently or anything, but just for a day or so. It's fun to think about. Random.

A Little Sunshine

Today I am...

Enjoying the sunshine,
Looking for shapes in the clouds,
and
Wishing on dandelions.

Oh, and Dolly and I are puppy-sitting her puppy cousin Millie,
the cutest little Cockapoo around.

It's a pretty great day!

Lana and Brandon

I can't believe I shot Lana and Brandon's wedding almost a year ago! I SO wish I had known as much about photography than as I do now! I've learned a great deal and I think I've improved a lot over the last year! I'm a work in progress;)

Today I get to go to a baby shower for them! Lana and Brandon are going to make such amazing parents! I can't wait to meet their little one soon! Hopefully that means I'll get to take some more photos... Lana and Brandon, plus one!

Lights, Camera, Action(s)

Before...
After...
 Before...
 After...

Those of you who know a bit about the current world of digital photography are probably familiar with Photoshop actions. They are basically a quick and easy way to edit photos. You can buy them or download them for free from a variety of sources. (Pioneer Woman, MCP, Paint the Moon, etc...) You need to have a basic photo editing program like Photoshop Elements to use them.

I've downloaded a few, but haven't ever ended up using them. It just kind of takes away my sense of pride in the work I do. I like being able to control the entire process from shooting to editing and finally to a putting it all together on a scrapbook page.

So... I decided to learn how to create my own Photoshop actions. I gave the photos above a trendy vintage look and I must say I LOVE the final result! Now I can't wait to print these up and create some happy pages to share with you!
