Golden Hour: Chasing the Light

Photography is all about capturing how the light falls on your subject. I'm always drawn to the look of the evening light through the lens--  it has such a soft, warm, and dreamy quality. Photographers refer to the last hour before the sun sets as the Golden or Magic Hour. It's a beautiful time of day! (Technically the first hour of sunlight in the morning is also the Golden Hour, but I'm usually not up yet to appreciate it!) When shooting during Golden Hour, be sure to turn your flash off so as to keep the soft quality of the light. You have to shoot quickly before the sun goes down, but the results are stunning! It's a beautiful time of day for portraits too, but I'll be posting about that later;)
