Through the car window... |
Life doesn't always go the way we plan, but I am certain the Lord has not forgotten me. At times I fight it, but I think I'm right where I should be. It's easy to think, "I'd be happy if..." or "I'll be happy when..." but like President Uchtdorf said, we can't sit and wait for a "golden ticket" to come along and make everything okay. We must choose to be happy now. Sometimes that isn't easy and I'm impatient, but I am trying. I'm looking for tender mercies and finding them. Perhaps a year has passed by and I don't have any BIG successes to speak of, but it's the little things that actually matter.
With Hope,
L

Sometimes life's biggest accomplishments are actually the things that seem small and insignificant in the world's eyes. We spend a lot of time hoping to do these big recognizable things and to develop big and recognizable talents, but sometimes the things that matter most are the day to day habits of goodness, kindness, and charity that we develop. Much to your surprise, you may one day find out that something you did during this past year that didn't seem like a big thing, influenced somebody for eternity. You are doing great Lynley! I'm proud of you.
You do big things that bless people's lives every day! You bless me and my children by taking the time to be with them over at Mom and Dad's. You bless people with the beautiful music you play, the art you create, and the words of wisdom and insight you share. Keep going, you're doing great! Love you!
Wow, I can't believe it has been a year already. What you said has really resonated with me, I know I have felt like that too. Thanks so much for being my friend and example, Lynley. I always learn so much from you!
Every time I start to feel like a small person in a big world of full of talented, accomplished people, I stop and remind myself that it's not the big jobs and public accomplishments that matter in the grand scheme of things. Rather, it is the heart and testimony, the quiet devotion and service of a person that will be recorded in the books of Heaven. After all, the prophet Joseph was a farmer and the Savior was a carpenter. These were humble jobs without a lot of public recognition, but look how these men are remembered.
Never doubt that you do great things!
