If I had my way right now I'd sail off on a lovely tropical getaway... but instead I'll keep looking for contentment in the here and now. Secretly, sometimes I like to visit Utah Lake and pretend it's the ocean... I had a lovely time there the other night snapping photos and dreaming.
I find that photographs, music, and food can take me to another place and time. What takes you away to a place you love when you can't actually be there?

D. All of the above! :)
For me it's generally anything London -- photos, books, herbal tea . . . Last night, it was 2.5 hours of PBS mysteries and documentaries. *sigh* "Oh that I were in England now as once I was!" ("The Tempest")
Just thought of another "memory transporter" for your list -- smells!
Strange as it may seems, tobacco smoke always reminds me of childhood trips to Lagoon, while the smell of toast reminds me of being in Grandma and Grandpa Dowdle's kitchen.
Thanks Steph! I love these ideas. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who indulges in little daydream getaways!
Totally with you on the smell of lagoon and grandma's house!!
My "imaginary vacations" keep me sane!! :)
Glad you're with me on those smells. :)
